TWO PACK CEMENTITIOUS WATERPROOF COATING
Description
Bluemax Cementitious waterproofing (2k) is a two-component acrylic modified cementitious coating that requires only on-site mixing forming the ideal product to waterproof and resurface concrete, masonry and most other construction materials. Bluemax Cementitious waterproofing (2k) provides an effective barrier to waterborne salts and atmospheric gases. Fluid applied Bluemax 2k provides a hard touch seamless, waterproof membrane for Roofs and foundation protection.
Application
- A simple application of stiff brush, the roller of the trowel, it forms a waterproof, flexible, trafficable coating.
- To reface and even out variations in concrete surfaces.
- As a waterproof lining for water retaining structures.
- For coating seawater channels.
- Sealing and Coating tie bar holes to ensure water tightness.
- For waterproofing & protection against brackish water.
- To provide foundation protection.
- As a Waterproof coating for roofs.
- As a backing to marble and granite to prevent water ingress and thus alleviate surface staining.
- For fixing tiles in water retaining structures.
- To provide protection to concrete surfaces from carbonation and chloride attack.
- For use on pedestrian walkways in marine areas.
Advantages
- Excellent performance and flexible in nature.
- Good adhesion to most surfaces.
- Allows the substrate to breathe.
- Nontoxic therefore suitable for potable water.
- Can resist up to 7 Bars of pressure.
- Resistant to carbon dioxide and chloride ion diffusion. (Forms a film that provides an anti-carbonation coating over concrete. A 1mm coating of Bluemax 2K provides anti carbonation cover which is equivalent to over 75 cm of concrete.)
- Unlike convention coatings which require 7 -28 days cure of concrete, Bluemax 2K can be applied to 24 hours old concrete, thereby giving immediate protection to the concrete.
Application Procedure
Surface Preparation: The surface must be sound and free of oil, grease, dust and other unwanted residual material which will affect the bonding. The surface to be treated should be saturated with water prior to application but no standing water should be present.
Mixing: The material is supplied in two parts, and pre-measured. On-site, mixing is needed.Take the liquid in a container and slowly adds the powder to the liquid and mix using a slow speed drill fitted with a suitable paddle until a lump-free creamy consistency is obtained. Do not mix more material than that can be used within 45 minutes. Never add water to loosen the material at any stage.
Application: Apply the first coat using sufficient material at a rate of 1 kg /m2 to completely cover the holes, cracks etc… A soft bristled brush or roller can be employed for this. Once the first coat is dry, apply a second and third coat in order to achieve the required thickness at an average rate of 0.75-1 kg/m2 per coat.
Coverage: Coverage depends upon the nature of the surface to be applied. But on average, smooth surface per kg 13 to 15 sqft per coat.
